The Holy War in Tripoli
By. G. F. Abbot

“The Turco-Italian war had been going on – or rather, standing still – for seven weeks when I decided to join the main Turkish and Arab forces in the desert round Tripoli town, with the objective of collecting material for a book on the campain…”

G.F. Abbott opens his narrative describing his view of the Italo-Turkish War of 1911-12, in which the invading Italian army tried to conquer Libya in an attempt to counter French colonies in Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco.

Whilst following strategic moves of both sides and describing the various military encounters, The Holy War in Tripoli extols the zeal of the Arab troops who, for good reason, saw the conflict as a ‘Holy War’.

The work, reproduced in facsimile from the first edition of 1912, contains a large selection of rare photographs, along with maps and drawings.
